Pittwater Challenge
Our annual challenge is drawing to a close; the winner will be announced at our meeting on May 6, 2013.
We are asking that you also submit your completed ‘challenge’ image next Wednesday night along with your competition digital images.
We will be sending the ‘challenge’ images to Bruce Baker prior to the meeting, this will enable him to have a good look at each image to assist with his judging.
So you still have a few days yet to finish this project and good luck.
Nan Tien Temple Outing
Our weekend away was a great success, even if the rain dampened things down a little on Saturday.
While it bucketed down, we enjoyed a most informative hands-on workshop with Malcolm Fackender – the subject being ‘Flash Photography’.
The notes for this will be available on the web site shortly.
In the mean time you can check out Malcolm’s workshops for yourselves at https://plus.google.com/102587505996890325528/posts
Malcolm also conducts photographic tours through Asia, his web site is http://www.spotlightonasia.com/tours.html
We had great fun on Saturday night taking shots of the steelworks all ablaze with lights, steam and other activities. Then on Sunday we stopped off at the tank traps before heading home via Stanwell Tops and the Hindu Temple at Helensburg.
We all agreed it was a terrific outing and we are now looking for suggestions as to where we can go next year for a weekend away. Any ideas?
ANZAC Day
Tomorrow is ANZAC Day and hopefully you will be getting out, not only to witness some of the events locally but also to take some images of the day.
Your images will be perfect for our August competition ‘Street Photography’.
For those who wish to travel a little further afield, there is the Dawn Service at the Cenotaph, the march at 9.00 am and later the reverse march which starts at approx. 12.00 pm near the Town Hall when the pipe bands march back through the city.
There are plenty of choices out there for you.

Calibration
For those at our meeting on Monday night, our guest speaker David Pix reinforced to us the importance of correct calibration of your monitor.
Calibrating your monitor is an essential part of ensuring that the image you see on your monitor at home closely resembles what the judges and members see up on the screen on a competition night. Correct calibration also helps to ensure that your printed image closely matches what you see on your monitor.
The club has a calibrator that we lend out to members to assist with this.
Please talk to Peter, Brian, Bill or myself if you wish to borrow the calibrator.
