Our updated program for the rest of the year is now available on the Club website.
Please refer to it for any changes and additions. Make art that speaks with your voice, instead of art that asks "Am I like the others? Am I good enough? "
Be inspired by things and peers around you, but don't frantically compare. A highly recommended book to get the creative juices flowing is The Photographers Mind by Michael Freeman. ( One of his many publications). Readily available as a download on amazon or as a used paperback through many U.S. sites. Thanks to Mike Maher and Peter Squires for this info. Astrophotography Evening6 enthusiastic members braved the cool night air last Saturday night and came away with some awesome images created with lights and pyrotechnics. While the sky was a little overcast and our initial aim of shooting the night sky was thwarted, we made the most of our light sabres ,torches and watching Peter singe his hairs with burning steel wool. We all came away a little wiser on lighting techniques and long exposures. Thanks Peter and Takis for your inspiration and guidance. Check out some of Luke Tscharke's tips on how to shoot the Milky Way at luketscharke.com There are many resources on the web including tips for how to use your particular camera when shooting the night sky. Disposable Camera FunOur disposable cameras are now in the laps of the Gods and who knows what treasures will be revealed.
We will have the unveiling on Monday night 17th July. This should prove to be an interesting evening. Information relating to the program for the evening will be sent out shortly. Club Secretary
We are still needing someone who can take on the role of Secretary.
Routine activities involve sending out email reminders and thank yous to presenters and judges, and helping with the yearly planning of all club events and competitions. If you feel you can spare a few hours each fortnight and would like to be more involved with the Club's general running and direction , please talk to Peter or Bill and we can fill you in on what is required. |

Don't forget we are having a members run workshop later in the year.
This is a wonderful opportunity to share your knowledge and enthusiasm with fellow members and for you to learn from others and ask questions and share ideas. Do you have a particular area of interest that you want to know more about or do you have skills or special techniques you are keen to demonstrate to others and help them develop? This can include hands on camera work, lighting techniques, capture techniques, processing, using specific camera gear or accessories, travel tips etc. Are you thinking about getting some new gear and would be interested in learning from members own experience or get a hands on demonstration? Have you been involved in other workshops which worked well and would like to suggest we do something similar? Please let us know! |
