Astrophotography EveningWe will have our astrophotography evening this coming Saturday 17th June (weather permitting) . For those adventurous souls who are willing to brave the cold night air, please meet at 6.00 pm in the top carpark at Long Reef Headland (up the hill, past the boat ramp and golf club). We will then make our way to the lookout at the top of the hill. If you are new to taking star images, Takis and Peter will provide guidance. In addition to your camera and spare batteries, bring along your tripod, a torch and a cable/remote release if you have one. If you are not used to shooting in manual mode it would be a good idea to practice how to change your ISO, aperture and shutter speed and how to use manual focus. Check out some of Luke Tscharke's tips at luketscharke.com on how to shoot the Milky Way. There are many resources on the web that can give you a head start including tips for how to use your particular camera when shooting the night sky. Disposable Camera FunI hope everyone had fun with their disposable cameras this weekend. The weather today was conducive to get outside and let the creative juices flow.
Don't forget to return the cameras next week so we can get them processed and find out what treasures we have uncovered. Club Secretary
We are still needing someone who can take on the role of Secretary.
Routine activities involve sending out email reminders and thank yous to presenters and judges, and helping with the yearly planning of all club events and competitions. If you feel you can spare a few hours each fortnight and would like to be more involved with the Club's general running and direction , please talk to Peter or Bill and we can fill you in on what is required. |

Don't forget we are having a members run workshop later in the year.
This is a wonderful opportunity to share your knowledge and enthusiasm with fellow members and for you to learn from others and ask questions and share ideas. Do you have a particular area of interest that you want to know more about or do you have skills or special techniques you are keen to demonstrate to others and help them develop? This can include hands on camera work, lighting techniques, capture techniques, processing, using specific camera gear or accessories, travel tips etc. Are you thinking about getting some new gear and would be interested in learning from members own experience or get a hands on demonstration? Have you been involved in other workshops which worked well and would like to suggest we do something similar? Please let us know! |
