Welcome New Members
Arnon Greiff and Mathew Jacobs
Our Web Site
Following on from our presentation evening with Lee Duguid we have now listed on our web site the Apps that he mentioned. Fenella has also given us the names of some Apps that she uses too. For those who were not there on Monday night, the Apps all relate to tides, sun and moon movements etc and can be very helpful particularly if you wish to pursue seascape photography.
The names of the Apps can be found here – they can all be found in the Apple store and some on Google play.
Nan Tien Temple
We are also taking bookings now for our weekend away at the Nan Tien Temple for the weekend April 19 – 20.
The cost for the weekend will be $100 per room per night; plus $16.00 per head for breakfast on Saturday and Sunday mornings. There are only a couple of rooms still available.
We have quite a few fun plans made for the weekend, including a ‘hands on’ photographic workshop on Saturday morning.
If you are interested please let me know ASAP to secure your place.
FCC Topshot 2013
It’s almost that time again when we should start thinking about Topshot. For the newer members of the club who may be unaware of what Topshot is all about – the rules are very simple.
To enter you must be a financial member of an FCC affiliated club – and yes we are.
You enter as an individual, so any awards are for you – not your club. Even if you don’t win an award it is a great way to compare your images with the images of members from other clubs throughout NSW.
The categories this year are:
Print Section – Mono, Colour, Nature
Digital Section – Open Mono, Open Colour, Nature and Creative/Altered Reality
Entry forms are not available yet, but we will advise you when they are and where you can go to check the rules – they have tightened up this year on prints with regard to their mounts.
Entries Open March 25, 2013 and close April 26, 2013.
Two members of our club have received serious gongs for their efforts in recent times.
In 2012 Fenella Clarke won Gold for the Best Creative Image with ‘Half Face’
And
In 2006 Mike West won Topshot and Best Colour Print.
The Pittwater Challenge 2013
By now you should have found at least 3 of the 10 images for the subject ‘Something Missing’. It sounds hard but isn’t when you start looking.
Have you seen a child with a missing front tooth, a window pane missing or perhaps a wheel off a car? Take a walk along your street – who knows what you may find that’s ‘missing’.
Take 10 separate images and put them all into one jpeg file (good practice here with layers). Full details can be found here
And there is a great prize for the winner. So join in the challenge and have fun.
Photo Ops
There are some great photo ops coming up in the next couple of weeks.
February 24th – Manly Wharf Bridge to Beach Race
March 2nd – The Mardi Gras
March 3rd – The Festival of Steam
March 8th – 10th – Camerally
Links to all these Photo Opportunities can be found here
Grab your cameras and start snapping.

Image Mounts
Peninsula Reflections on Warriewood very kindly supply mat boards to the club at prices that cannot be bettered anywhere. If you wish to purchase boards at any time just talk to Brian at the door.
If you are unsure how to mount an image just go to our web site, click on Resources or Ctrl + click here
Calibration
Calibrating your monitor is an essential part of ensuring that the image you see on your monitor at home closely resembles what the judges and members see up on the screen on a competition night. Correct calibration also helps to ensure that your printed image closely matches what you see on your monitor.
The club has a calibrator that we lend out to members to assist with this.
Please talk to Peter, Brian, Bill or myself if you wish to borrow the calibrator.
Club Patron
