FLASH WORKSHOPS

Following on from our first session on "Flash" workshops we will have a second session on Monday 6th May.

We will meet in the Viola Lounge and explore what we learnt in Malcolm Fackender's tutorial on flash lighting.

Bring your camera , manuals ,  tripod and any flash equipment you may have and together we will demystify the use of flash equipment.

Even if you do not have any flash gear come along and see what it is all about.

This is all about learning from each other.

A great little book that really explains the use of flash in very simple terms ( even I can understand it ) , is
"The Flash Book " by Scott Kelby.

PLEASE ensure your digital images are TITLED and include your FULL NAME as per the instructions on our website.
Use only lower case characters with no spaces. Use underscore in place of spaces.

All digital images are to be sent to [email protected] no later than 8.00pm on Sunday night (the day before the competition).

FCC TOP SHOT 2019

The Top Shot Exhibition will be held at St George Leagues Club on Sunday the 26th of May, and we thank St George Photographic Society for their support in hosting the event.

I would encourage participants as well as other interested club members to come along to the exhibition to view the print display and projection of digital entries.

The Top Shot recipient, as well as the first, second and third place winners in each section will be announced at the exhibition.

National Portrait Gallery announces 40 finalists

The National Portrait Gallery has shared the forty finalists for the National Photographic Portrait Prize 2019.This year over 3,000 entries were received for the Prize, which is judged by National Portrait Gallery Senior Curator, Dr Christopher Chapman, artist and photographer Hoda Afshar and Curator of Photography at the National Gallery of Australia, Anne O'Hehir.

The Mono Awards 2019

The Mono Awards is looking for the best Black and White photography from Australia and New Zealand.
Why black and white?
Because we love it and, while monochrome is as old as photography itself, we believe it is as relevant now in the age of digital as it was when Henri Cartier-Bresson was
walking the streets of Paris with a Leica rangefinder. The Mono Awards is open from
14 March until 30 June 2019, with $10,000 in cash and prizes to be won.
