Our Next Meeting
The next meeting of the Pittwater Camera Club will be held on February 17, 2014
This will be a presentation evening with Bruce Baker letting us know how to shoot a ‘Creative Landscape’. Sounds different!
Our meeting will commence at 7.45 pm for an 8.00 pm start
Prior to the presentation our own Bill Roberts of Peninsula Reflections will be giving a tutorial on mat cutting. This has always been a very popular tutorial, and a must see for newer members.
The tutorial will start at 7.15 pm.
We look forward to seeing you at:

Q & A
At the start of the meeting we will have our quick Q & A session. So if you have a question regarding anything photographic or about the club itself this is when you can get the answers.
Points Steward
Bob Hunting has been our Points Steward for many, many years now but has decided to stand down from this position as he wishes to pursue other interests away from photography. Bob will continue to be a member of PCC so we may not get to see him as often as we would like. All Competition Entry Forms will now be processed by the Secretary.
So on behalf of all or members, thank you Bob for all your years of service and enjoy your family history research.
Image Resizing
Mike has advised that many of the digital images received for the last competition were incorrectly sized. Images should measure 1024 x 768 pixels and be no larger than 500 Kb. At no time should an image exceed the height of 768 pixels.
Please go to our website, click on the resources tab and here you will find detailed instructions on how to resize your images.
Congratulations
Trevor, a new member to our club and first time entrant received 3 credits at our ‘Open’ competition. Well done.
Pittwater Challenge
Have you been up to the Bahai Temple yet and accepted the challenge?
A link is now on the front page of our web site with full details of the Pittwater Challenge 2014.
Our Club Patron Brent Pearson will be deciding the winner of the challenge at our April 28th meeting. Many of you are probably aware that Brent is an absolute whiz at ‘light painting’ – why don’t you have a try.
Portfolios
We had the first meeting yesterday of the members in our portfolio group. We discussed what our topic will be and how we plan to go about capturing it.
We now have a couple of months to go out experimenting with our ideas before meeting again in late May, where as a group we will discuss each others work, make suggestions and generally encourage each other.
Did You Know
That images which received a Merit or Credit in our last competition may now only be entered into one more competition plus the Images of the Year before becoming ineligible for any other competition in PCC.
Worth a look
Michael Snedic, Wildlife and Nature Photographer will be holding a workshop at Taronga Zoo on March 29th. Unfortunately there are no details of the workshop on his website, but if his work enthuses you then you can contact him from there.

What’s On Pittwater

Camera Gear
Have you recently purchased a new camera and now find you have excess gear? Let me know and I will put your items in our newsletter.
Competition Entry Form
Don’t forget to download your ‘Competition Entry Form’ to store on your computer and print out when required. Just Ctrl + click here
Image Mounts
Peninsula Reflections at Warriewood very kindly supply mat boards to the club at prices that cannot be bettered anywhere. If you wish to purchase boards at any time just talk to Brian at the door.
If you are unsure how to mount an image just go to our web site, click on Resources or Ctrl + click here
Calibration
Calibrating your monitor is an essential part of ensuring that the image you see on your monitor at home closely resembles what the judges and members see up on the screen on a competition night. Correct calibration also helps to ensure that your printed image closely matches what you see on your monitor.
The club has a calibrator that we lend out to members to assist with this.
Please talk to Peter, Brian, Bill or myself if you wish to borrow the calibrator.
Club Patron
Brent Pearson inspires with his photography and techniques. His love of photography and his passion for sharing his knowledge serves as a great role model for fellow photographers. Visit Brent's website - Ctrl + click here
