HDR Presentation
Following on from our presentation evening with Steve Mullarkey we have now listed on our web site his HDR presentation notes. I’m sure you will all agree that his presentation was terrific and hopefully some of you have managed to get out to take a few images to play with.
Steve mentioned a program called HDR Efex Pro 2 that he often uses. I did check it out to download and it was priced at approx $99.00. Well since then there has been great news.
Google have taken over Nik Software and as a very special offer the complete Nik Software bundle is now available for download at US$149.00.
This bundle includes HDR Efex Pro 2, Silver Efex Pro 2, Sharpener Pro 3, Color Efex Pro 4, Viveza 2 and Dfine 2.
To check out the deal go to http://www.niksoftware.com/nikcollection/usa/index.php
And you will get an extra special discount if you use the discount code of ‘DZISER’, which should bring the total price down to about AU$125.00, depending on the rate of exchange on the day.
So go grab this super deal – it won’t last long.
Our Web Site
For those interested in competing in national and international comps, our web site is continually updated with the latest info of ‘what’s happening’ all over the world.
Please visit our links page to check it out or just click here.
And don’t forget to check out our ‘Gallery’, where the top judged digital images from all our comps are found.
Nan Tien Temple
Bookings are now closing for the Nan Tien Temple. Please let me know asap if you wish to join us for what promises to be a great, fun filled weekend.
The cost for the weekend will be $100 per room per night; plus $16.00 per head for breakfast on Saturday and Sunday mornings. There are only a couple of rooms still available.
We have quite a few fun plans made for the weekend, including a ‘hands on’ photographic workshop on Saturday morning.
For those who have booked I will be sending you an email shortly detailing the total amount due. This will be payable to Brian on April 8th.
FCC Topshot 2013
The FCC are now accepting entries to the 2013 Topshot.
Entry forms and info is available at http://www.photographynsw.org.au/pages/topshot-home.html
For the newer members of the club who may be unaware of what Topshot is all about – the rules are very simple.
To enter you must be a financial member of an FCC affiliated club – and yes we are.
You enter as an individual, so any awards are for you – not your club. Even if you don’t win an award it is a great way to compare your images with the images of members from other clubs throughout NSW.
The categories this year are:
Print Section – Mono, Colour, Nature
Digital Section – Open Mono, Open Colour, Nature and Creative/Altered Reality
Entries close April 26, 2013.
Two members of our club have received serious gongs for their efforts in recent times.
In 2012 Fenella Clarke won Gold for the Best Creative Image with ‘Half Face’
And
In 2006 Mike West won Topshot and Best Colour Print.
The Pittwater Challenge 2013
By now you should have found at least 6 of the 10 images for the subject ‘Something Missing’. It sounds hard but isn’t when you start looking.
Have you seen a child with a missing front tooth, a window pane missing or perhaps a wheel off a car? Take a walk along your street – who knows what you may find that’s ‘missing’.
Take 10 separate images and put them all into one jpeg file (good practice here with layers). Full details can be found here
And there is a great prize for the winner. So join in the challenge and have fun.
Photo Ops
There are some great photo ops coming up in the next couple of weeks.
April 19 – 20, Nan Tien Temple
April 20 – 21, Ironfest Lithgow
April 25, ANZAC Day
Links to all these Photo Opportunities can be found here
Grab your cameras and start snapping.
Competition Entry Form
Don’t forget to download your ‘Competition Entry Form’ to store on your computer and print out when required. Just Ctrl + click here
Image Mounts
Peninsula Reflections on Warriewood very kindly supply mat boards to the club at prices that cannot be bettered anywhere. If you wish to purchase boards at any time just talk to Brian at the door.
If you are unsure how to mount an image just go to our web site, click on Resources or Ctrl + click here
Calibration
Calibrating your monitor is an essential part of ensuring that the image you see on your monitor at home closely resembles what the judges and members see up on the screen on a competition night. Correct calibration also helps to ensure that your printed image closely matches what you see on your monitor.
The club has a calibrator that we lend out to members to assist with this.
Please talk to Peter, Brian, Bill or myself if you wish to borrow the calibrator.
