FCC Interclub 2013
The FCC Interclub was held last Sunday (October 27th) and hosted by Manly Warringah Leagues Camera Club.
Although we did not pick up any serious gongs we were by no means lagging behind the winners. In some instances we were only 1 or 2 points off the leaders.

Annual Raffle
Every year PCC have a monster raffle, the winning ticket being drawn at our ‘Images of the Year’.
With that in mind, it would be really appreciated if you can bring along a ‘donation’ to our next meeting on November 4th.
We are asking for any items that can add to the Christmas spirit – biscuits, table decorations, wine, cake, etc. Please do not send along any item that needs refrigeration and ‘donations’ should not be more than $10.00.
Also would the members who have the containers that held last years raffle bring these along too or let me know if you have them. (They are large green bowls, clearly marked with PCC on the underside). I am looking for 2 containers.
Peter Haes
Many thanks to Peter Haes for presenting his underwater images to us at last nights meeting. Peter showed us some stunning images he has collected over his many years of snorkeling. Everyone who saw the presentation was delighted by the presentation.
Thanks again Peter.
Sydney Zombie Walk
Last nights presenter, Braden Fastier – photo journalist with the Cumberland Newspaper / News Corp group recommended just ‘getting out there’ to practice taking photos whenever possible, anywhere, any time.
Well here is a really great photo opportunity!
The Sydney Zombie Walk is an annual event where thousands of people get involved to raise awareness for Australia’s Brain Foundation. Zombie Walks have been happening all over the world to raise money for various causes – the earliest known to have been in 2001 in Sacramento, California. Sydney has been producing zombies since 2009.
Commencing at 3.30 pm this Saturday (November 2nd), at Hyde Park, the walk will end at Prince Alfred Park.
Interested? Visit the Zombie site here.
Sculpture by the Sea
And another opportunity exists at the annual Sculpture by the Sea.
Take the stroll from Bondi to Tamarama and marvel at the worlds largest annual free sculpture exhibition. It is only a 2 km walk and easy to get there by public transport.
The exhibition runs from now until November 10th.
Lots more info here.
Fishers Ghost Festival
Almost four months after the mysterious disappearance of local farmer, Fred Fisher, in 1826 a strange occurrence took place in a local hotel. On that memorable night, a wealthy and respectable farmer, John Farley, stumbled into a local hotel in a state of shock. John claimed he had seen the ghost of Fred Fisher sitting on the rail of a bridge over a creek. The ghost pointed to a paddock down the creek then faded away.
The occurrence has been celebrated since 1956, and with all the events planned during the festival there should be lots of photo ops for you.

Frog Night
Pittwater Council will be having a ‘frogging night’ on November 1st. Learn all about frogs from their experienced ‘frog’ expert.
Bookings are essential and more info is available here.
Timber Boat Festival
And last, but not least, the Royal Motor Yacht Club will be holding their annual Timber Boat Festival on November 2nd. Click here for info.
So, as you can see there are heaps of opportunities out there to practice your photography and perhaps grab a few winning images.
Exposure
Would you like more exposure for your business?
For a small donation to Pittwater Camera Club we will arrange for your logo, business address and phone number and link to your web site from various pages of the Pittwater Camera Club website, along with the same in our newsletters.
The only criteria is that you must be a financial member of Pittwater Camera Club, be a sole trader or in a partnership and have an ABN.
Our website attracts several thousand visitors per year and our newsletter is distributed to over 100 people every two weeks.
This represents a wide coverage of prospective customers for your business for less than $1 per week.
So if you are a tradie, accountant, solicitor, shop keeper, hairdresser, beautician, window cleaner etc, and are interested in getting your business name out there to an even wider market, please contact Peter, Bill, Brian or myself and we will go into it in a lot more detail with you.

Calibration
Calibrating your monitor is an essential part of ensuring that the image you see on your monitor at home closely resembles what the judges and members see up on the screen on a competition night. Correct calibration also helps to ensure that your printed image closely matches what you see on your monitor.
The club has a calibrator that we lend out to members to assist with this.
Please talk to Peter, Brian, Bill or myself if you wish to borrow the calibrator.
