Our updated program for the rest of the year is available on the Club website.
Please refer to it for any changes and additions. FCC Interclub CompetitionThe annual FCC (Federation of Camera Clubs) Interclub competition will be held on Sunday 15th October from 10.00 am.
We are hosting this years event and our Selection Committee will be requiring prints for entry in to the competition. The competition is similar to other Camera Club competitions in that there are several different sections to enter including print and digital sections. Our selection committee was short handed with people away on holidays , so Fenella and Alan stepped up to help with Marie and Bill. We managed to fill most categories but were very short on prints which made the job difficult , however Alf's sausage rolls helped to ease the pain. Thank you Marie for your hospitality and it is great to see Alf well on the road to a full recovery. Digital Image Titling
During our recent selection of images for the Interclub competition we had some issues with several digital images not being labelled correctly, rendering them unusable in competition because we did not know who was the photographer.
There were at least two images we wanted to use but couldn't. PLEASE ensure your digital images are TITLED and include your FULL NAME as per the instructions on our website. Use only lower case characters with no spaces. Use underscore in place of spaces. eg: the_shearers_ben_jones.jpg Vintage Diving
A group of vintage diving equipment enthusiasts , including Patricia's husband Stephen , had a Standard Dress Diving day to mark the 75th Anniversary of the completion of HMAS Penguin and the commencement of diver training at that facility.
Held at Chowder Bay wharf on Sunday 17th September in absolutely perfect Spring weather , the day saw several divers donning gear in excess of 70 kgs in weight and taking up to 30 minutes to get suited up to go for a walk on the bottom of the harbour for 10 to 15 minutes. Certainly not one for the claustrophobics out there!! Stephen has an impressive collection of gear and is always up for a chat about this almost forgotten form of deep sea diving. This was a great photo opportunity for a subject that is not often seen. Thanks Patricia for the heads up on this one. |

Our competition last week was kindly sponsored by Chris Riou of Newport Travel.
The evening was judged by Andrew Hall who is a past member of Pittwater Camera Club and now travels the world photographing motor sports and places. Chris had the task of picking one image that she deemed the best from a travel agents perspective. An image that evoked a sense of wanting to be there . The winning image as judged by Chris was "Niagara" by Brian Smith. Brian received a lovely photographic book donated by Newport Travel . Thanks Chris for your continued support. Lucky Door Prize
At our workshop evening we had a surprise lucky door prize and gave away two free one on one training sessions with the Aperture Club which were kindly donated by Marie.
The lucky recipients were Lesley and Sandra. Congratulations guys and thank you to Marie. Macro outing
Even though the wind didn't let up , 8 of our members turned up for a fun morning last Saturday , with Ben leading the way.
Hints and help with camera settings soon saw everyone spreading out to experiment with their cameras and lighting. Ben has certainly built up an impressive array of gear and it is all put to good use. His macro imagery is really quite stunning! I believe Ron may have his eyes on some of Ben's lighting gear! By all reports , the morning was a huge success and hopefully we will have more short outings in the future. Thanks Ben. Wildlife Photographer of the Year
