January 27, 2015
NOTE: ALL MEETINGS WILL NOW COMMENCE AT 7.30PM
Next Meeting
The next meeting of the Pittwater Camera Club will be held on February 2, 2015
This will be a competition evening and our judge will be Janie News
The subject will be ‘Open’
Digital Images are to be sent to – Mike West – [email protected] before 9pm , Sun 1st February , 2015
Our meeting will commence at 7.15pm for an 7.30pm start.
This is the first Competition where we will be scoring in the "new way", see below
Following discussion and agreement at last year’s AGM, we are implementing a new scoring system at Pittwater Camera Club to provide better feedback for your images.
The previous system of merits and credits will no longer be used. Instead, all images will be judged out of 5 points for Impact, Technical Merit and Composition for a total maximum score of 15 points.
In the past, an entry may have received all positive comments but may have failed to receive an award from the judge. By scoring each element out of 5, we will have a clearer idea of what aspects need improvement and which are the strongest.
As with the previous system, you will need to print out your own Competition Entry Form (This is a NEW Version) and is now downloadable from the club web site please fill it in and submit it on the night. Any images which receive 10 points or more will be recognised, as was previously the case for Merit and Credits, i.e. by asking for the photographer to call out their name and by placing a tag on the image in the case of prints. Digital images receiving 10 or more points will be placed in a folder on the laptop for later consideration in the selection images for interclub competitions.
A submission which is judged at 10 points or more may only be entered in an Open or Set competition twice during the same year. Submissions may be entered in three competitions in total and one Images of the Year. Any such submissions are then ineligible for any future PCC competitions

Name Tags
Please everyone, can you always wear your name tag. Most of us know who you are, but our newer members do not and this is the easiest way for all of us to learn who is who.
Don’t have a name tag? Sue looks after the name tags and she will gladly arrange a tag for you to be available at the following meeting.

Calibration
Calibrating your monitor is an essential part of ensuring that the image you see on your monitor at home closely resembles what the judges and members see up on the screen on a competition night. Correct calibration also helps to ensure that your printed image closely matches what you see on your monitor.
The club has a calibrator that we lend out to members to assist with this.
Please talk to Peter, Bill or myself if you wish to borrow the calibrator.

Would you like more exposure for your business?
For a donation to Pittwater Camera Club we will arrange for your logo, business address and phone number and link to your web site from various pages of the Pittwater Camera Club website, along with the same in our newsletters.
The only criteria is that you must be a financial member of Pittwater Camera Club, be a sole trader or in a partnership and we prefer you have an ABN.
Our website attracts several thousand visitors per year and our newsletter is distributed to over 100 people every two weeks.
This represents a wide coverage of prospective customers for your business for less than $1 per week.
So if you are a tradie, accountant, solicitor, shop keeper, hairdresser, beautician, window cleaner etc, and are interested in getting your business name out there to an even wider market, please contact Peter, Bill, or myself and we will go into it in a lot more detail with you.
