Avalon Beach Historical Society
Geoff Searl, President of the Avalon Beach Historical Society, has asked me to invite anyone who is interested to come along and see their 9th Historic Photographic Exhibition. Their portfolio of historic images is as good as any you would see in a museum and many are held excusively by the Society.
NSW Arts Minister Award
Dear Camera Clubs, Lauran from Head On Photo Festival here. I wanted to reach out to you and your community to let you know about an upcoming grant opportunity. The $10,000 grant, ‘NSW Arts Minister’s Award for Visual Storytelling’, will be awarded for a photography project to record contemporary life in NSW. The project will culminate in an exhibition at Head On Photo Festival 2019. Is it worthwhile selling your images to a stock library?

The National Photographic Portrait Prize is an annual event intended to promote the very best in contemporary photographic portraiture by both professional and aspiring Australian photographers. At our previous competition night, In the Kitchen, judged by Phil Ramsden, Alan Purnell received perfect scores of 15 for all six of his entries. No one can recall, in the history of the club, that this has ever been achieved. A well deserved result for some great photographs which nailed the brief perfectly. Awesome effort Alan.

Seeing in 6's
Now is the time to get your creative hats on and think about our mini portfolio style of competition " Seeing in 6's ". As discussed , you will be presenting 6 prints on a board no bigger than 500mm x 500mm in size that are cohesive or tell a story. They can be either monochrome or colour or a mix of both and can be different sizes. You can submit 2 sets of prints and critique night will be Monday August 13. Waves and Water Exhibition
Australia's love of the beach is the subject of an exhibition at the Australian National Maritime Museum. Surfers, swimmers and sunbathers are the stars of a sprawling project collecting images from the 1880's to today, focussing on both traditional and contemporary beach culture and a myriad of esteemed Australian photographers including Max Dupain, Harold Cazneaux and Roger Scott.
