Off Camera Flash
We had a terrific night last week discovering the delights of flash photography. Many thanks to Malcolm Fackender whose presentation was inspiring to us all.
As yet I have not received his updated notes on the presentation, but his previous notes can be found via the Resources tab on our website.
Silent Film
The silent film festival classic ‘The Great Dictator’ starring Charlie Chaplin will be presented at the Ku-ring-gai Wildflower Garden on Thursday August 7th 2014 at 10.30am, morning tea from 10.00am.
The film is a completely restored version on Blu Ray with the original sound track. The program runs for approximately 124 minutes in total.
As this is a long film, there will be a short intermission. The proposed finish time of the film is approximately 12.40pm. Light refreshments will then be served.
All in all it is an interesting and lovely way to spend the day. You are welcome to stay and enjoy the Wildflower Garden after the film.

Peninsula Reflections at Warriewood very kindly supply mat boards to the club at prices that cannot be bettered anywhere. If you wish to purchase boards at any time just talk to Brian at the door.
If you are unsure how to mount an image just go to our web site, click on Resources or Ctrl + click here
Calibration
Calibrating your monitor is an essential part of ensuring that the image you see on your monitor at home closely resembles what the judges and members see up on the screen on a competition night. Correct calibration also helps to ensure that your printed image closely matches what you see on your monitor.
The club has a calibrator that we lend out to members to assist with this.
Please talk to Peter, Brian, Bill or myself if you wish to borrow the calibrator.
Club Patron

Although these rules do not apply to our monthly comps, please keep them in mind if you wish to have your images considered for selection at a later date.
- Thickness of mount is not to exceed (3mm) i.e. the thickness of one matting board mount.
- Preferred size of matting board is 16 x 20 inches or closest cm equivalent.
- Polystyrene mounts or backing are NOT eligible.
- Thick backing behind your matted print is NOT eligible.
- Any (thin) backing cardboard behind the matted mount must be the same size as the matted mount, smaller, thick backing can leave indents when prints are stacked damaging other people’s images.
- No velcro, no sticky tape, no loose labels, or sticky residue is to remain on the back of your entry. These can cause irreparable damage to the surface of other people’s prints.
- Ensure your image is very securely stuck to the matting board – Blue Tack is not suitable.
